It is time to get this party started!

October 1st has arrived and it is time to begin my 31 posts of helpful tips for simple healthy living.

31 days 2013 button

To be honest with you, I have spent the past few days wondering why in the world I would EVER commit to posting 31 consecutive days.

That would be 31. Days. In. A. Row. people!

Ummm…yeah…a rather daunting task.

However, healthy living is something I am passionate about. As I began mapping out what I would share over the next 31 days, I realized I may not have enough time to cover it all. In a nut shell, this should be a breeze!

For the benefit of those who are new here, I do not profess to be an expert on the topic of health and wellness. But a nasty run in with cancer 3 years ago prompted changes in my what-I-already-thought-was-a-healthy lifestyle. I did my homework and have gathered lots of info that I am eager to share.

I’m sure you must be wondering what to expect here over the next 31 days?

I am convinced a truly healthy existence requires the nurturing of four things. Diet, exercise, rest and spiritual well being. Diet and exercise are a given. I think we all know the role both play in the quest for wellness. Each of these are the expected first line of attack toward change. We also know sleep plays a vital role in being the best we can be. However, it is the care and keeping of our spirit…our emotional and spiritual well being…that often gets neglected. My oncologists (yes, that word is plural) preached the benefits of focusing on all four areas.

They are awesome.

They are brilliant.

They are people I trust.

And my research supports their lectures.

So that is where I keep my focus and what we will cover.

Throughout the month you will see discussions on major health saboteurs and suggestions for simple changes that make a major impact. I will also address a few of the current debatable health topics…some of which are critical for anyone battling health issues. We will talk exercise and skin care. And there will be posts featuring my favorite recipes, snacks and workouts along with supplements I use. I may even give you a peek inside my fridge and pantry…as long as you promise not to judge.

All this and more will be coming your way throughout the month.
